The chapter opens with Harada's soliloquy, in which he laments the fact that his opponent is on top of his game. Harada tells us that he and his opponent faced off in a tournament when Harada was only 26 years old, and Harada won the match, but Harada lost the match in the final. He explains that he ended up marrying a man who forted on Harada that day, and that Harada then moved to e-kyushu, where he became a full-time reciter. He says that he doesn't have much luck with seriza, though, because she's too "mechanical" for him. He thinks inokuma has the advantage against high school girls, but he doesn1t know it yet. He tells Harada to "go" and "get her" , and to look at Harada1s speed.
