This scene opens in a luxurious courtyard in the middle of the night. The Governess is terrified by the sight of her master, who is dressed in his underpants. He has nowhere else to hide, and the courtyard is full of doors. He tries to play with the Governess, but she is too scared to do so. He tells her that he will make her taste the pain he has inflicted on her. He says that if this continues he will beat her up, and he tells her to come to his room if she has the guts. She tells him that she and her brothers are locked in her room, and she tells him to come in if he really has guts. He responds by saying that he is the one who wounded him the other day, and so he is chen quin.
