About This Chapter
The next morning, Hiroshi and Enoshima are on their way back to the mainland, and Hiroshi asks Enoshima if he and his companion can pick up their pace. Enoshima replies that they can't because they're too small. They're not big enough to take giant steps, he says, and they won't be able to do so for long. Hiroshi replies that he's heard that Enoshima woke the dragon's pulse, but he doesn't want to tell Hiroshi about it. He's not sure what's going on, and he wonders if it's the fault of the gods for walking too far. He says that when they get too far away from the gods, they'll end up using their powers again, and that's when he'll use his powers again. They agree to meet up at a nearby inn, where Hiroshi's sister, Mina, is staying. They don't have anything to eat, so they just mope and get ready to go to bed.
