"The rose of the versailles" , the narrator tells us, is a famous Japanese saying that means "to drink the rose of love" . It's a way of saying, "I'm in love with you, and I'm going to love you back." The narrator says that he's been feeling a little weird lately. He's not sure what's going on. He wants to go to a restaurant with his friends, but he doesn't know what to do with himself.
