In this short scene, we learn that the cave in which the novel takes place is said to be haunted by a "deep wave" . The narrator tells us that he's going to stay inside with the rest of the gang to save his brother. He's not sure if his brother's okay, but they'll do their best to keep him safe. He asks if they have any light in the cave, and they all agree that it's best not to attract too much attention. They also agree that they're not going to hurt anyone by going in there alone. They're just here to take care of a guy who's unconscious. They don't want to hurt the guy, but if he wants to take the girl with him, then they've got to stay with them.
