About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy by the narrator, in which he asks the reader if he wishes to see the fight between the two students. The narrator says that he would like to see it, but that he does not wish to reveal the reason for the fight. He says that the reason why he lost was that he was self-taught and of a certain age. He adds that he wishes that the fight would have been cut short so that he and the other students would not be known. He also says that if the fight had gone on as planned, he would not have been able to defeat the opponent. He tells the reader that the only reason why the fight was cut short was because of the gravity control spell, which he calls "the watt barrier." The narrator then tells the audience that the spell is only effective within the academy grounds, and that only during the next three days will the spell be in full force. He asks the audience if they think the fight is a "platinum ticket," and the narrator replies that it is. He goes on to say that the narrator should not worry about the fact that chao is still with her, because she is still a student and that she is happy. He then asks if they should worry about losing the fight, since the sword does not even think about forfeiting.
