About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a conversation between Roxane and Roxane's mother. Roxane tells Roxane that she's worried about her son's health and that he's not feeling well. When Roxane asks what's wrong, Roxane says that he needs to get some rest. She's also worried about the fact that Roxane is spending her time at school. She says that they're using the school as a base from which to plot new attacks against the monsters. They've seen more aggression on the schoolyard, and they don't know why. They need to have a long-term plan. Rouncewell says that Krook's moods are getting worse, and that she needs to calm them down. She also says that she doesn't own the monsters, but that they killed Krook because she could see patterns in their behavior. The auntie says that spirits are everywhere, and she can see that spirits fuel their rage, but there's a price for their power. They fuel your rage, she says, but they distort your vision with time and nature. She tells her that she saw who she was and who she is and that they would kill her if she didn't join a club. She thanks the auntie for the hospitality, and says that the spiders are going to help them.
