In this chapter, we learn that all the characters in Beiyuan are fictional. The only one who is real is the protagonist, who asks the audience to imagine that there are many heroes in the city. The protagonist asks why he killed his own father. He asks why the villain, Panlos, attacked the city again. Panlos attacked again because of the protagonist's father, but the protagonist blames him for not stopping the attack before it happened. The two men discuss the nature of justice and evil and decide that the protagonist is destined to be a villain.
