About This Chapter
This chapter's epigraph comes from a poem left behind by the protagonist. The protagonist explains that he is unable to fight because his will of sword is not pure enough, and he has to keep honing his sword skills until he can truly counter an enemy's strike. He wonders if someone is supporting him behind the scenes, but he does not know who they are. He also wonders if they are dictating his fate. He asks if he has ever become someone's disciple, and the protagonist replies that it is not bad. He then asks if the protagonist knows that the god-slaying strike is forbidden, and if he knows why it is forbidden. He tells the protagonist to visit the sword village, where he will be able to find out more about the way of killing emotions. The killing sword mountain, he says, is actually located in the village. This is the only way out of the 3000 ways of Godhood that is not forbidden. If a great price has been paid, why must the protagonist push himself onto this way of godhood? The protagonist wonders if this person is thinking of the past of the protagonist's ancestor, chenhuangyijian, who joined the village to become a master of killing swordsmanship. He says that he was able to pass through all the karma halls, and that he received the teachings of dipankara, the Buddha, and became an indestructible and undying body. This must be their final reward, he asks.
