This chapter opens with a soliloquy by tian xiong, the leader of the warriors. He explains that he and his men made it to the top of the tower, but that the curse was so strong that they couldn't even get close to the tower without being killed. He also explains that tian and hui were able to escape the curse because they were hiding in a secret passage between the tower and the cursed one. .
