About This Chapter
This scene opens with the two young men looking at each other, apologizing to each other. The young man tells the others that his clothes have been destroyed by a swarm of enemy soldiers, and that he came to deliver them to the young man. He tells them that he was afraid that the enemy soldiers would think that the prisoners of war were being mistreated by the army, so he went to deliver some of his own clothes to the boy. He says that the boy's clothes are not as shabby as theirs, and he will leave him to the two men to deal with them. He then tells the other men that he can hear everything that is going on around him. He looks around and sees that someone is outside. He wants to know the name of the person. He asks the other man if he thinks that if he does not tell him, the lord would not know. The other man says that they share an eighty-seven percent similarity, and they both know that the lord knows that they are both talented young men. He also says that if they come together, he can promise the boy a bright future as a sub-lieutenant for the emperors younger brother. This is enough to fool anyone who has not seen the lord. He goes on to say that if the boy comes along with him, he will promise him a bright and illustrious future as well as a master of many
