About This Chapter
The general asks bam if he's sure that no one has followed him, and bam says that he cut off his finger while changing identities, and that he may have already been exposed. He also tells the general that he threw a servant named wang into the river so that he could feed the fish. The general tells the two of them that they've been great help, and asks if they want to live or not. He tells them that he doesn't want them to talk, but if they do, he won't let it happen to them. He asks them to nod or shake their heads, and warns them not to play tricks with him. He says that if they try to talk while his eyes are watching, he'll crack the barracks and crack the bodies. He then asks the general to inspect the bodies, and he says that the heads belonged to the two spies. He was worried that the bodies would be destroyed to hide their tracks, so he brought the heads back. This is not something he and the general can involve themselves in, he says. He sends the evidence to the general immediately. The young lord comes in, and the General tells him that the information is from spies who infiltrated the city. The General tells the young lord that the spies were sent by the general's highness just under a month ago, and it's clear that the general trusts the general very much. He adds that the Eastern Barracks will be holding an annual tournament soon, and young lord will be there too.
