In this chapter, we learn that the old man has been seriously injured and that the army is under the command of a new captain. The old man is not expected to be able to return to his old position anytime soon. The enemy has already attacked the castle, taunting the new captain, who is still calm. The new captain says that the enemy is the blasted knights, and that he has always opposed working with them. He says that they must be the holy knights, since they are the ones who set the rules of the game. He tells the captain that he is getting better at lying, but that he can come out and tell the truth now. The captain asks why he still said that to the red snake, and the captain replies that he doesn't think he has said anything wrong. The knights have a wild ambition, he says, and they will have to face the monsters sooner or later. He adds that he knows that he cannot beat the man, but he feels that the man has become a stranger to him. He asks the captain what he wants to change in the world, and he says that if he could turn him into a special ability, he would be willing to do so. He also says that he would like to change the world so that ordinary people would not be so easily deceived. The Captain says that this is a big ambition, and if he can make himself more powerful, then he will do something to fix the world.
