About This Chapter
In this chapter, Silver Fox explains that he is not a law enforcement official, but rather a "humble local police" . He does not believe in "world law enforcement" , but he does believe in the existence of gods. He wonders if a god would help someone who cannot even depend on himself from a few prayers. He also wonders if the recent attacks on churches and temples are a religious war, or if the gods are punishing people because they have offended them. Silver Fox says that the government has hired professionals to help them deal with the situation. He welcomes the captain of holy knights, who has dealt with the monster that attacked the seacoast. He tells Silver Fox that the holy knights have come to protect the citizens of the country, and Silver Fox tells him that he can fool others, but cannot fool Silver Fox. Silver fox says that he knows the knights are monsters, and he knows that bashu has been involved in the attacks on the coast. He asks Silver Fox why he hasn't thought more about the consequences of his actions. He says that if he had refused his offer, there would have been more bloodshed.
