About This Chapter
"The farther you run, the better," says the boy, who has run away from his family. He tells his parents that the disease has already appeared in the village, and that the boy can talk with the dead. The boy says that he is afraid that his lies will pierce through the family's lies, but that he has not done anything harmful. He asks his parents if they are going to burn the family alive, and he says that they will be cursed with the plague. He says that his family is the real demons, and they need to be killed and used as sacrifices to god. He thanks his family for being so disrespectful to the gods, and says that if they had let the couple go, he would have let them off the hook. But now, he says, because of their stupidity, he will have to bury them with the gods. He adds that he still has some humanity left in him, but he does not care who he is. He does not know who he thinks he is, but says that there is no point talking to her. This is for the sake of saving the lives of all the villagers.
