They are interrupted by the sound of a tap tapping on the door, which is the signal for the next door neighbor to come in and invite them in. They sit down to eat some sweet potato paste, which they have brought with them from the school trip they took tokyo last year. They ask if they are studying for exams, and Shusuma sighs that this is a tough time for third-year students. They talk about how they should have bought three boxes of the paste instead of just one. Shusume says that he thinks they should save their first kiss for someone special.
