About This Chapter
It's a hot day, and the girls are picking up trash for the neighborhood association. One of the girls asks the other girl to sit down to have a drink of tea. The other girl tells the girl that she's been picking up her habit of being "lazy" lately. The girl says that since she was a little girl, she was always made to do whatever the boss wanted her to do. Now, every girl at school looks like the boss, and she hates them all. She asks the girl to talk to her, but the girl says she doesn't want to, because she hates the girl who always made her do whatever she wanted to do, even when she didn't like it. She says that she has been "slight-traumatized" by the revenge the girl got when she did not follow her orders, and now she hates all the other girls at school. The girls go to the washroom, and one of them asks if he can borrow one of her yukatas, which are stuffed squids. He also asks if she can borrow a rice ball, which is a type of rice dish that's stuffed with food. He says that he's not interested in the food, but that his mother always bugs him for not wearing it. He asks if his mom can come over, but he can't bring himself to ask her, because there's so much food in the area. He wonders if he should sell the rice ball to a pawnshop.
