About This Chapter
The narrator complains to her husband that she has asked his sister to beg for a job. She's a big fan of the "bright stars" animated series, and she's hoping that she'll be able to get a job in the show business. She asks her sister if she'd like to work for a boss, and her sister says that she would like to, but that she doesn't have the talent to do so. The narrator tells her sister that she shouldn't be making fun of herself in front of other people, because "ordinary people" will always be sympathetic to the weak. She also tells her that if she wants to get ahead in the business, she should first check her own abilities. She says that the company might have to go bankrupt before she can get ahead. She tells her to put the meeting minutes on her desk, and then she leaves. She tries to get her sister to tell her what's going on with her, but she can't get her to stop talking. She scolds her for acting so poorly, and says that her parents and she are worried about her. She then tells her about her acting skills, and the narrator says that he admires her. He says that if he hadn't been dead, he would never believe that she could act so well. He asks her if she can give him a little more patience, and opportunity, so that he might succeed. She promises that she will change her ways if she makes her sister angry.
