"No please grandfather" , says Little Em'ly. She begs her grandfather to help her save her brother, who reminds her of her dead younger brother. He says he's just worried that she'll get hurt, but he sees that she wants to help him because she reminds him of her younger brother's death. He gives her a sandwich and milk and tells her to eat breakfast. When she asks when she started talking to her, she says she didn't want to talk to her before. He asks her why she's wearing her mother's dress every day, and she says it's tacky. He tells her she should go see her birth mother today. She says she heard it from her sister this morning, and he should go with some flowers to her mom's grave. He's leaving early, he says, because he has a lot of worries about her. She reminds him that she looks just like her mother. He kisses her and says he still loves her very much.
