As the scene opens, we're introduced to the protagonist, a shy young man who's just returned from his first day of school. He's a little nervous about his new crush, but he's also a little worried about what's going to happen to him in the future. He doesn't know how to respond to the girl's questions, so he tries to act cool. The girl asks him what he thinks about gay people, and he says that he'd rather not answer that question. He also asks her why she's shining, and she says that she was asking him that because she wanted to know what his thoughts were on the subject of gay people. He says that's fine, but that he hasn't found a crush in the school yet, and that he was just trying to be careful not to get caught in the act of being cool. He asks the girl why she was staring at him, and the girl says that it's because she was trying to find out if he was in love with someone else. She also asks him if he thinks that gay people should be allowed to marry, and if they should have the right to choose their own spouses. The protagonist is all, "I'm not sure, but I'm sure I'll find someone to talk to about this." The girl continues to ask him questions, and when he finally
