The next morning, Du and Senior Sister Xiao arrive at the gate. Du tells them that he has been there for a while to investigate the death of the disciples, but that things are getting worse. Du says that they should leave the gate, since he is the one who has the final say on the matter. He says that the whole of the gate should be left alone, since that is the case. Senior Brother Du thanks Du for saving his life, saying that he hopes that he will not regret his words in the future. Du then says that he and Senior Brother Xiao are walking back to the gate as a way of relaxing. He wonders why Du has been out so late, and wonders what he was doing there the night before.
