In this chapter, we are introduced to Raina and her son, Ralph. Ralph's father, William, is still alive, but he is now sober and sober-up. He tells Ralph that he is his mother and that Ralph is his grandson. Ralph does not recognize his mother as his mother, and he tells her that he does not wish to see her again. Ralph asks his father where he has been all these years, and his father tells him that he has not seen him for a long time. Ralph tells his father that he fell asleep in the playroom, and that his father has been sick ever since.
