This scene opens with the Duke of Guingzhou asking the King of the Ming to give him three days to find and save his wife. The Duke tells him that a hundred years before, a woman named Guiyan entered the Ming's palace as a prostitute and was executed for her crimes. The woman's body was burned, but the poison insect that poisoned Guiyan still lingers in the pond where Guiyan lives. He tells the Duke that he can protect Guiyan's heart by using his inner force. He also tells him to search for and kill the person who tried to kill him.
