About This Chapter
Sixteen years ago, Ming's family could cut back on smoking and save money for their son's education. He's an "omega" , and going to school is a "waste of money" . He should "just get married already!" , Ming says. He knows that there are "lots of alphas" in good universities and that if his son doesn't perform well, the family will be "wasted!" . Ming tells his wife that she should find a rich husband for her son, because he'll "be our golden goose" and they'll need a husband who's rich. He tells her that he couldn't attend school because there weren't enough "alphas" to go to school in his village, so he had to marry her, a "loser beta." . She tells him that she's learned the four "basic math operations" today and has to answer questions correctly. How can she expect her son to do well if he's not taught well? She tells her husband
