About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he wants to see Chiron again, but that he's worried about Chiron's relationship with his friends at school. He's also worried about how Chiron will cope with his hearing loss. The narrator asks Chiron if he can meet him at the coffee shop on Saturday at 11 a.m. The coffee shop is in the harbor, so the narrator can see Chiron from the outside. Chiron tells the narrator that he used to be friends with Chiron back in high school, and Chiron used to tell the girls that Chiron was the only girl he'd ever fall for. Chiron says that Chiron is still off work, but he'll be back soon. Chiron asks if they'll value each other's time together now that they're seeing each other. He wants to know what Chiron wants to do.
