About This Chapter
"It wear ' it sign' . . it swoon followed by a swoon" . This is the first time the narrator has seen the girl he's been wooing. He's not sure if she's his little sister or not, but he doesn't care. He thinks she looks younger than she actually is. The narrator thinks that the seaweed men are just trying to get his attention. He also thinks that shin is not being nice to anyone. He says that since the day he fell in love with shin, he hasn't spoken to anyone about it. He wants to go home and drum-play the game where he chooses the song. He figures that if he says something shocking to him, it'll cut his sadness by half. But if he does say something shocking, it will make him feel even more sad. So he goes home. He tells himself that even if he said anything shocking, this place would still be noisy enough to make him happy. But he still feels sad because only shin is there to lift him up. He feels jealous of the girl. He knows that he is nothing like her, and that shin has become her "boy friend." He thinks that unrequited love will end just like the girl's relationship with shin. He tries to tell her not to be jealous, but she'll just look at him as if he were acting weird.
