About This Chapter
In this short scene, the audience is introduced to a number of the characters who populate the epic story of the Crusades. The first character, a young boy, is introduced as a "muffin" . He is a member of the "Knights of the Apocalypse," a group of knights who have been chosen by the gods to fight in the coming apocalypse. The boy, who is also known as the "little kid," is amused by the fact that the other knights are amateurs at fighting. He notices that one of the knights has a good head, but he is too weak for the fight. He also notices that the girl in the hat has struck him with a single blow, but that she has not hit him in the face. The young boy is impressed by the girl's skill in striking him, and he is pleased that she was able to strike him with such force. The other knights, however, are not impressed with the young boy's ability to strike the girl. They use decoys to separate the boy and girl, and the boy is surprised that they were able to do so. He realizes that they are using "magic" to split them apart, and that he is a slave to the gods. He wonders if the rain is the result of the magic of the gods, and wonders if it is the same magic that has made the trees fall. He sees the girl and her friends in the distance, and realizes that the fight is going on at such a fast pace that they have no time to wait for the rain to stop. He asks the girl if she is able to heal herself, and she says that she is. He tells her that he can read her like a book, and asks her to use her magic to heal him. The girl agrees that she can heal him, but asks him to stop using his magic to kill her friends. He tries to convince her that she should stop using her magic, but she refuses to listen, saying that she must use it to give everyone else a hot meal. She tells him to use his "damn magic" to "give every body flight," and he tells her to be certain that she does not have a big deal with it. He then asks her if she can use her
