This chapter's epigraph is from the opening lines of Act IV, Scene 1 of the play. It's a quote from the play's opening lines, in which the protagonist, em>/em> a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/exec-stylebook?ie=UTF8&psc=1" target="_blank" href=”https://doi.org/pdf/10.1007/fulltext/exec.pdf" /a> . In this passage, the protagonist's identity is revealed, and he is the protagonist of the story. He is a member of the Rebekah Empire, which is trying to reclaim the rights of the people from the central government. He tells the protagonist that the empire is not trying to "save humanity at all" . He says that if the protagonist wanted to be welcomed into the empire, he could "etherow" and be welcomed in. The protagonist says that this is not what he wanted, but that he will have to use force if he wants to stop the rebekah empire from destroying his homeland and other neighboring lands. He also says that the protagonist will display his corpse in the capital as a warning for others. He adds that he'll stab the protagonist in the arm, too, and that he won't be able to use his special projectile weapon anymore. He swears to avenge the death of the three top-level reincarnates.
