About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a description of a "food-laden multi-legged transport" . It's a town with a lot of people suffering from "frame disease" , which is a genetic disorder that causes a person to become a "regular frame" when they grow up. The automatons who govern the town are named "eile" and "eime," and they're both "reincarnated" into the town. They're the ones who run the town, and they have the power to stop people from getting caught with the disease. They ask the automatons to show them around the town so they don't get caught, but the automaton says it's too dangerous for them to do so, and he's begging them to give him some food. He tells them that there are people in the town who have not yet become "frames," but they can still live a normal life if they want to. He explains that his having the disease caused hardship for his mother, so he came to the town to make some money so he could repay her kindness. Now, everyone is tired of waiting for the match to begin, and the two of them are ready to go. They tell the automaton that if he beats them, they'll grant him any wish he desires.
