In this chapter, the narrator and his friend Ling Ling discuss a new card Ling Ling has found at Tomoyochan's home. Ling Ling is impressed by the card's ability to memorize things, but he is still not sure how to play the card back. He tells Ling Ling that he has told a friend of his that akiho-chan used to live at the house, and that the friend was surprised to learn that Ling Ling was there. Ling is pleased to have been invited to the party, and he thanks the hosts for making him feel welcome. He also thanks Ling Ling for his love of books, which he came to Japan to read.
