As the chapter opens, we are introduced to a new character, a young girl named Alix. Alix is the daughter of Akiho, the creator of the Crystal Palace. She is the one who created the spell that split the soul of Chiron, the founder of the universe. Chiron's spirit was half that of Alix's, and he performed the spell on Alix in order to protect her from evil. As Alix explains, the spell was so powerful that it was able to detect the slightest traces of magic inside her. She tells us that she is the same way as Chiron in that she has the same soul as Alix, but she has a different name. She says that she does not know why she is creating the cards, because she is too powerful to control the spell. She also says that Alix knows she is not strong enough to stop Chiron, and she has used her magic to do so. She asks Alix what happiness is, and Alix answers that it seems time has come to an end. She then asks her father if he is looking for his daughter.
