About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator talks about his parents' deaths in five days. He says that he's always been confident that he can handle any tragedy. He also talks about meeting a stranger in the street. He's never seen a stranger extort money from someone before, and he thinks that's a really bad idea. The narrator then talks about how he lost his gold driving license after eight years. He thinks that first-born sons are the worst in the world. He mentions that he used to date a guy from the area, but now that they've been together, he knows that the guy from that area is a bad guy. He goes on to talk about how one day, the guy told him that his dad had collapsed, and that he needed to go back home ASAP. This is the first time he'd ever seen a girl from that part of town behaving like that, and the narrator thinks that it's all a lie. He gives the guy a half-million yen to help him get back on his feet.
