About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's just about ready to kill the fiddler crab. He's about to kill him when he hears the thud of the twinewing's jump, and the narrator realizes that it's not a fight, but rather a hunt for the fiddler Crab. The narrator points out that the narrator doesn't usually see the booster legs that twinewing uses, because they're invisible to the rest of the world. Plus, the narrator says, it'd be a waste of time to use optical camouflage, since no one ever uses it. He also points out how the narrator's body is based on the dust he kicks up, and that's why he'll be able to kill fiddler crab the next time he sees him. The fiddler crab is all, "Gee, I thought I nailed that!" . He thinks the narrator missed the jump by a few feet, but the narrator explains that it was a fake, because he switched his legs to "anti gravity" , which means they won't be visible to the outside world for long. So the narrator suggests that the fiddler's hunt is just starting.
