Back when he was in the army reserve school, Akane used to get a lot of letters from his sister. She used to write about how awesome her best friend was and how super she was. Akane says that this obsession with his sister made him want to be like her. He says that when he first joined the army, he would get letters from her. She would write about her "best friend" as though she were some kind of "superhero" and he would look at her as though he were "just a little shrimp" in combat boots. This obsession with her made him develop a crush on her too. First lieutenant Mitsuki says that she is now the "star" of the "yokohama unbase's a- 01 unit" and that he can't catch up with her one day. Mitsuki tells Akane that he's made an artificial body to look like sumika and that they are going to fight until they're all "blood and guts" and "every last hive" is blown to pieces. He tells Mitsuki that he needs to make sure that sumika is able to do her job and that Mitsuki needs to help him with his link-ups with the rest of the unit. Mishima says that he still needs to get more men on the ground to do his job, but Mishima promises that he will do his best.
