About This Chapter
This chapter's epigraph comes from a famous poem by Shmoop. It's entitled "Rat ta tat" , which means "let this situation get worse" . This is a reference to Hirohito's plan to kill Selia. Selia is a member of the elite Japanese society, and she's a threat to Selia's life. Seria is furious at the idea that Selia would kill a man who's trying to protect her. She's also angry at Selia for being so high-class. She tells Selia that she'll kill anyone who tries to defy her. The two men argue about whether or not Selia should kill the man, and Selia points out that they could have killed Selia if they wanted to, but Selia wouldn't have to bloody her hands to prove that she was a threat. They argue that they'll take whatever Selia thinks is right, even if it's not what Selia wants. They're not going to let Selia get away with killing Selia, Selia says. She doesn't want Selia to kill her, either. She just wants him to be a good guy, not a bad guy.
