About This Chapter
"Too Overwhelmed by My Boss to Fall in Love" The narrator tells us that he's too overwhelmed by his boss, sumino, to fall for the girl he works for. He's been thinking about putting her and her lover in matching clothes, but he can't bring himself to do it. He wants to see them side-by-side, he says, so he just wants to say thank you. The narrator is happy that he has a job where he can just watch his boss and his lover for 24 hours a day. He also wants to thank his boss for hiring him, because that's what enabled him to buy the clothes. He says he'll do his job properly, and then he asks if he bought the girl's blusher, which was obvious. He apologizes if he offended him, but says he was glad to see him look so happy. He tells the narrator to get himself together, even though he thought he was going to go for a bath. But there's no bath, and there are some documents over there that he needs to throw away. He goes on to say that he was planning to throw the documents away, but then realized that he wasn't going to be able to do so because of his relationship with his boss. He thinks he was being too harsh, and he apologizes for that. He adds that he doesn't want to be a "polo ogize" , which is a term used to describe a person who is too close to another person. He explains that he thought his boss would be more lenient with him after they moved in together, and so he was just trying to be nice to her. He admits that he didn't mean to be harsh, but now he feels sorry for being so harsh. He asks if she's going to stay at the house, and
