In this chapter, we learn that vampires can die young and old, and that they can be knocked unconscious or killed. We also learn that a vampire can be turned into another and that someone curses the vampire after the vampire's death. We learn that the only way to turn someone into a vampire is to hate the vampire, which is why tarje hates him so much.
