The next morning, the creator of the cob tells his servant, Tarje, that his uncle has abandoned his plan to visit the prisoner and torture him again. He apologizes for what he did to the prisoner the night before, but he cannot oppose the new vampire since he is in command. He decides that he will find out who the prisoner is and visit him.
