This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter. In this scene, we are introduced to the protagonist, who has lost his special powers and is now unable to control the waves of the ocean. He is unable to tear the rag off of the monster's body, and he is also unable to use his special power to attack the monster. The protagonist realizes that the monster cannot escape because he is wearing a special robe. He also realizes that he will be able to escape whenever he wants with another weapon, in this case, a splash. He will trick the monster to catch him when he pretends that his weapon is broken so that he can escape. He then plans to take the monster home with him and study his defenses.
