The chapter opens with a discussion between Caixin and his mother, Miss An. Caixin tells Miss An that he is proud of his accomplishments and wishes he could be a father. Miss An tells him that she does not approve of Caixin's education and that he should be allowed to do whatever he likes. Cailin tells her that he has been taught countless lessons, assignments, and tasks and that she has not allowed him to do anything that would not make him a "heir" to his family. He asks Miss An if she has ever asked Caixin what he likes, and Miss An says that she did not know anything. She tells Caixin to go home and tell his team that there is no work on their project. When they return, they will find that everything is empty on their hard drive.
