About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which Nemo is shot in the arm. Nemo's son, Nemo Jr., tells him that his father is alive, but that the bullet missed his artery. Nemo tells his father that he will soon be able to return home. Nemo asks his father if he is from the forest, and Nemo replies that he is. Nemo says that he hopes that the professor can help Nemo. He tells Nemo that his laboratory and apartment are at the rear of the library, and that he has nothing to pay for it. Nemo then tells his son that he and the professor have gone to the forest to examine the rocks that Nemo has seen in the ocean. Nemo explains that the rocks are called "hemothy-stes," and that they belong to his late father's mother. Nemo promises to find Nemo and bring him back with the solution.
