About This Chapter
The next morning, Huck finds himself in the middle of an argument with the Governess. The Governess is confused by Huck's explanation of the events of the previous night. She tries to calm him down by reminding him that he is a man, and that he has a duty to protect women. Huck, however, is not convinced. He feels that his actions have been misunderstood and that his words have been misconstrued. He tells her that he did not hit Huck hard enough, but that if he should happen to be in the same situation again, he would tell her what happened.
