In this chapter, the young mermaid, named "Shi yang jin," explains that she is a real mermaid and that she has to wear her costume because she wants to get caught by human beings and become like the dolphins that were caught in the sea. She also explains that her fiance, "brown," gave her his costume and taught her how to breathe underwater. When she returns home, she is surprised to find that Brown has invited her to a candlelight dinner. She is also surprised to learn that he has not asked her to make a candle-lit dinner, but to exchange tokens of love.
