The narrator says that he doesn't need to tell us about the dream because it was just a dream. He says that the dream was a prophetic dream from a witch and that it's going to come true. He tells us about butterbur, which is a kind of grass that grows along the roadside. He asks his mom to pick some, but she says that they shouldn't because they're too big for the road. He also tells his mom that they'll be making tempura with the butterbur they've picked, and that they should be careful not to fry them because they might get stuck in the oil. He adds that they can have some too, too, but he says that his mom should make sure they don't fry them in the wrong place. He then says that if they put ice in a batter, it'll fry them up nicely. They're good at cooking, he says, but sometimes they turn out to be "miserable charcoal" . He wants to bring some back to eat.
