In this chapter, we learn that the girl we met at the beginning of the story, Haruko Nanase, is actually the daughter of a man who died when she was a teenager. We learn that Haruko's father was killed in an accident when Haruko was a child, and that she has been rumored to have killed her own father as well. Haruko tells us that her father died in June of last year, when she turned 19. Haruko says that she is not sure if the rumors are true or not, but she does know that she wants to find out what happened to her father before he died. She wants to know if the rumor that she killed her father was true, or if it was just a rumor spread by some other person. She also wants to learn about the rumors about her mother, who was also killed in the same accident as her father, and whether or not her mother was involved in the accident. She asks Haruko to look at the pictures she has of Haruko, and Haruko agrees to do so.
