About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the hat-man is yoko, and that she and her daughter are hiding out in the snow. They are afraid of what will happen to them if they spend the night outside, and they are worried that they will freeze to death. Worried that their mother is going to die soon, yoko begs her to come back and tell her what has happened. She tells her that she is sorry, but she is not her real mother, and she blames herself for everything. She says that she had no hope from the beginning of her life, so she tried to live her life without worrying about herself. She gave up on her dreams early on, and blames everyone else for all of her problems. Confused, she tells them that she loves them both, but that they should remember that she may have led a life of empty happiness, but this is her true love.
