About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the abandoned building in which one of the scientists was killed. The narrator points out that the building is in a designated area, but that the killer hasn't shown up yet. When the narrator asks about the boy in the picture, he learns that he was the first person to arrive at the scene. He also learns that the boy's brain has survived and is co-habiting with a parasite. He asks the narrator to leave the boy with him, but the narrator refuses, saying that he's working for the future of all of them. He says he'll have to get human help to raise the boy, but it'll be okay. He tells the narrator that he found the body of the girl from the movie the other day, and that she's been scared to tell her what he thinks. He's glad to hear that the girl is okay, but he doesn't want to kill the boy. He wants to see if he can figure out a way to make the boy stand still.
