About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Mishima's men are becoming more varied. They're trying to get elected, but they're going to get caught. They might even kill someone famous. Mishima is still in danger, though, because she's not as strong as the men's ability to sense one another. They keep bumping into each other, and Mishima can't figure out who they are. She's worried that they'll start killing people if she doesn't get involved, but Mishima won't let that happen. They need to talk, Mishima says, and they need to be careful not to get too many of them together. They don't know each other well enough to know what each other's intentions are. They have no human feelings, they say, so Mishima has to tell her what they've been up to. She wants to know if it was a man or a woman who was responsible for the deaths of the two people she was talking about. She also wants to tell Mishima about the election for the mayor's seat in the town of Higashi-Fukuyama, where Hirokawa Takeshi defeated the former mayor, imai-katsuyuki, in an emergency election.
