About This Chapter
It's a calm day in the middle of nowhere, and Izumi is still shaking. A friend of hers has said that if you think humans are equal to cows, pigs, or fish, then humans eat bits of chopped-up animals every day. Izumi says that her friend is a "weird person" , and that's why she's shaking so much. She tells Izumi that her father was injured on vacation, and she and her family have been looking for him ever since. They haven't returned from his trip, and now they're looking for each other. They're like Onitaro and Hiromi, and they don't seem to be interested in each other, either. Is it just me, or is there something wrong with the way we think? Is there a way to change our way of thinking? What we need to do, says Izumi, is to stop looking at the world in terms of cars and factories, and start looking at what's going on around us in the real world. She wants to know if there's anything she can do to change the world for the better, like giving up her cars to make it a little cleaner, or running for office herself. She's not sure, but she'd like to know. Hiromi doesn't look very interested in her, either, but he's curious about how they can all shake the earth together if they all move together.
