About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a flashback to a year earlier, when Udolpho's wife ran away from him, leaving him without a child of his own. He and his new wife had been living happily ever after, until she ran away. They had been married for only a year, and they had no children of their own. The flashback reveals that the couple's first child was a boy, and that the child's name was Nemo. Nemo's mother had died when Nemo was a young child, and Nemo and his father had been separated for a long time. Nemo, however, had been able to find Nemo and bring him back to his mother's house, where he had been raised by his father and grandfather. Nemo had been orphaned when his mother died, and he had spent the rest of his childhood with his father, who was a doctor. Nemo has been orphaned since he was a child, but he has always been very fond of his father. He has always loved his mother, and his grandfather has been very kind to him. Nemo tells Nemo that his mother was a good woman, but that his father was a bad one. Nemo is shocked to learn that his grandfather was a terrible man. He also learns that Nemo was born with a cleft in his chest, which was filled with a hole in his heart. Nemo realizes that the hole is the result of a phone call he received from his father-in-law, who had died a few days earlier. Nemo thinks that the phone call was from a parasyte, who saw Nemo as well as himself, and was coming toward him
